Parent Forum

A Parents Group is being set up by the Governing body and will be made up of one or more Parent Representatives from each class.  The Group will meet once every term (usually on a Wednesday between 5.45pm and 6.45pm) with a member of the SLT (senior leadership team) and a representative of the Governing Body to discuss items being raised within school community.  The topics discussed are usually of interest or concern to all parents, in the past they have discussed playground activities, communication pathways with teachers, and the organisation of homework and reading books.  The results of these meetings are distributed to all parents by the website page.  The Parents Group will be less formal and will require less commitment than being a member of the governing body, but it will play a pivotal role in allowing parents to contribute to school life.  Members of the Parents Group will have a consultative and advisory role within the school and are a means of strengthening parental voice, enabling more parents to express their opinions and influence decisions.  It is important to recognise that the Parents Group will not discuss Issues concerning individual children, these should be discussed in private meetings firstly between the parent concerned and the Class Teacher and afterwards by the Head Teacher or member of the Senior Leadership Team if you feel the matter has not been resolved.   If you would like to become a class representative, please contact Mrs Austin in the school office Tel 01273 418850 or by email on admin@brackenbury.brighton-hove.sch.uk
